National measurement standards / National Metrology Institute
Metrosert is the National Metrology Institute of Estonia. We maintain and develop Estonian national measurement standards for length, mass, temperature and electrical quantities. The quality of numerous Estonian products and services is based on our measuring capability.
National measurement standards / National Metrology Institute
Metrosert maintains the Estonian national measurement standards for mass, length, temperature and electric quantities. The national measurement standards in four measurement fields have been approved by a of the Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure, “Approval of National and Reference Measurement Standards” (14 June 2019).
In addition to ensuring traceable measurement results, Metrosert develops the measurement capability of the existing national measurement standards towards higher accuracy. It is important for us that we use state-of-the-art measurement methods in our work. For this purpose, we cooperate internationally with other European national metrology institutes.
Besides the approved national measurement standards, we develop measurement capabilities in the fields currently lacking national measurement standards in Estonia. We are currently developing the national measurement standards for time and frequency, optical quantities and electrical power.
