Consultation in the field of metrology

Improving or assessing a measuring system helps make production processes more efficient. The correct use of the right measuring instruments helps save on resources. Our metrology consultations are provided both by Metrology Division as well as Research and Development division experts.

We can help solve the following challenges that the companies face in the area of metrology and measurements:

  • Measurement management in the company (which measuring instrument to choose, where to purchase it, how to correctly use measuring instruments, how to structure measuring procedures, requirements for the calibration and maintenance of measuring instruments, etc.).
  • The development or selection of a complex measuring system based on the customer’s needs.
  • The development of measuring/calibration methods on the basis of the initial task provided by the company (e.g., for conducting internal measurements in an industrial enterprise). The improvement of measuring capability or the development of measuring methods that make the production process more efficient.
  • The development of measuring instruments Modern technologies require state-of-the-art measuring instruments and Metrosert has the necessary experience for developing such instruments.
  • Expert assessments related to measuring instruments (inspection of metrological properties, visual inspection, inspection of installation and procedure of use; assessment and advice on the preparation of procurement specifications of measuring instruments; advice on the verification of conformity of equipment offered in a procurement for the purpose of correct and effective conduct of the procurement).
Surveys on topics related to measurements (e.g., determining the need and availability of services related to measurements and metrology, legal metrology measurements that are the basis of legislation).
  • The assessment of measurement uncertainty in measurement and calibration, the development of assessment methods (for a specific measuring task).
  • Measuring results and the assessments gained on the basis thereof are usually compared to established criteria, or the criteria/limit has to be established considering the possibility of meeting it by way of measuring. In assessing requirements, the measurement uncertainty always has to be taken into account.
  • The provision of consultations to laboratories that are starting their activities and preparing for accreditation under standard EVS-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories).
  • Metrology audits – audits of metrological activities in a company. The aim of an audit is the determine the company’s situation with regard to measurements, the organisation of measurement and the reliability of the traceability of measuring results, based on the requirements of international or area-specific standards. As a result of the audit, the company receives a report on its measurement situation and, if necessary, proposals for activities related to the appropriate management and development of the measurement management system, in order to ensure the traceability of measurements as well as the sufficient precision of measurements in production activities.
