Metrosert Applied Research Center provides a safe and reliable environment for testing autonomous vehicles.

Through our ADS laboratory and expertise, we support: 

  • Development testing & pilots (on test fields and public roads)
  • Studies on the functionality of autonomous systems and ADS integration projects

Mobile field test laboratory

2 ADAS platforms with a range of up to 1.5 km and speed up to 100 km/h

Models and dummies, including child pedestrian, pedestrian, deer, cyclist, motorcyclist, car, etc​

Measuring system for VUT plus four additional participants with many optional variations​

Pilot driving on public roads in Europe

Cooperation with road owners and operators for pilot drives on public roads in a safe and lawful manner

An extensive 3D-scanned road network, easily adaptable as a base map for autonomous vehicles

High-precision road and weather forecasting system data enables accurate weather predictions for autonomous vehicles, along with real-time short alerts

Getting type approval process started

The Estonian Transport Administration’s designated technical service as of 2026​

Testing methodologies for autonomous driving systems in accordance with regulation (EU) 1426/2022

Private test field of 150 × 300 m with an indoor preparation area for up to 8 vehicles

Getting product certified

Training or consultancy in the ADS type approval process, description of the ADS, and description of ADS functions

Safety concept and safety management system description in accordance with standards

Test reports from a designated technical service
