The Minister of Transport of the Malaysian state of Sarawak visited Estonia to learn about sustainable transport solutions

From November 2 to 6, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Minister of Transport of the Malaysian state of Sarawak, visited Estonia with a delegation. The purpose of the visit was to learn about Estonia’s innovative and sustainable transport solutions through high-level meetings with leaders of state institutions, state-owned enterprises, and the private sector. Among other things, the distinguished guests also visited the Metrosert Applied Research Center.

The visit focused on several areas, including green and efficient urban mobility, hydrogen technologies, and autonomous maritime transport. Transport digitalization and e-logistics systems, as well as smart mobility, were also discussed. The visit focused on gathering knowledge, promoting cooperation, and assessing the applicability of Estonian best practices in the development of digital and sustainable transport solutions in Sarawak.

The delegation also visited the Metrosert Applied Research Center, where they were welcomed by hydrogen technology field manager Priit Ilomets and project manager Ly Lepik. The guests were introduced to Metrosert’s role in supporting research and development, its applied research capabilities, and the development of Estonia’s hydrogen technology ecosystem. Possible areas of cooperation that would contribute to the promotion of green and smart transport at the international level were also discussed.
