Interlaboratory Comparisons

Interlaboratory comparisons are an effective and reliable way to confirm a laboratory’s measurement capability and technical competence. Participation enables laboratories to:

  • demonstrate their calibration and measurement capability
  • assess the suitability of applied measurement methods and instruments
  • verify compliance of measurements with the declared performance level
  • prevent potential deviations
  • identify systematic errors or underestimation of measurement uncertainty
  • improve measurement processes

In accordance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 and the criteria of the Estonian Accreditation Centre (EAK), accredited laboratories are required to participate in interlaboratory comparisons on a regular basis. This allows laboratories to evaluate the consistency of their measurement results with those of other laboratories operating in the same field and supports the continuous improvement of measurement quality. In addition, it provides assurance of the reliability and comparability of measurement results both for the laboratories themselves and for their clients, thereby strengthening confidence in the laboratory’s competence at both national and international levels.

At the beginning of 2026, we will be organizing two interlaboratory comparisons in the field of mass:

Measuring the mass of an object

The interlaboratory comparison is open to all interested parties, but is primarily intended for accredited and professionally recognized laboratories or institutions engaged in mass measurements.

Calibration of non-automatic scales

The interlaboratory comparison is open to all interested parties, but is primarily intended for laboratories involved in the calibration of weighing instruments. This provides an excellent opportunity to confirm the calibration capability of an accredited laboratory in the calibration of non-automatic weighing instruments.

If you are interested in an interlaboratory comparison, please feel free to contact us!
