Each year we carry out nearly 300 weighings, and experience shows that Estonian people build and develop surprisingly exciting vehicles. Our precision scales handle a wide variety of means of transport.
For example, this summer we weighed an Airest aircraft, since aviation is subject to strict regulations and airplanes must be reweighed at regular intervals. While our everyday work mostly involves weighing cars, trucks, and trailers, every now and then we encounter truly unique machines – from motorcycles weighing a few hundred kilos to 120-ton road trains, self-driving buses, barrel saunas, pizza ovens on wheels, and converted campervans. In all these cases, accurate weighing is a crucial step to ensure that the vehicle meets requirements and is safe on the road.
When a vehicle is modified, the owner must submit an application, and the Estonian Transport Administration checks compliance with technical regulations. To update the unladen weight in the traffic register, either a certificate from the brand’s official representative or a measurement protocol with an explanatory report from a recognized measurer is required. The unladen weight is not changed without good reason, and each case is reviewed individually. Metrosert is an officially recognized measurer by the Estonian Transport Administration, and our protocol is valid for making changes in the register.
Metrosert laboratories are located in Tallinn, Tartu, and Jõhvi, but our specialists travel all over Estonia. Recently, we visited Võru, where locals were able to determine their vehicle’s unladen weight without leaving their hometown. Once all the Transport Administration’s requirements are met, the weighing process on-site usually takes only about 30 minutes. If necessary, we will also come to weigh your vehicle – whether it’s an airplane, a bus, or even a pizza oven on wheels.
Make sure your vehicle is accurately weighed to ensure safety and compliance.
In addition to vehicles, we also have the capability to determine the mass of other objects. We can weigh anything from a log house to a gold chain.
