Calibration and verification

CALIBRATION

Metrosert calibrates length and angle measures, handheld measuring instruments and various measuring machines.

Common measuring instruments that we calibrate:

• Gauge blocks and setting gauges
• Cylindrical ring and plug gauges, snap gauges, thread gauges and setting rings
• Measuring tapes, line measures and rulers
• Calipers and micrometers
• Dial indicators, probe heads and internal measuring instruments
• Ultrasonic thickness gauges and coating thickness gauges
• Laser distance meters
• Length measuring machines and measuring microscopes
• Stone and metal measuring surfaces
• Angle gauge blocks
• Angle measuring instruments, inclinometers, squares and spirit levels

Verification

Metrosert verifies length measuring instruments subject to compulsory verification in Estonia:

• Measuring tapes, rulers, dip-tapes and other line measures
• Cable, wire, textile or other tape-like material measuring instruments
• Measuring wheels
• Liquid level gauges

Metrosert performs the conformity assessment of length measuring machines (cable, wire, textile or other tape-like material measuring instruments) in accordance with Directive 2014/32/EU (modules F and G).

Measurement

Metrosert provides a wide range of geometric parameter measurement services. We have at our disposal various handheld measuring instruments, devices and measuring machines, including a 3D measuring machine and laserscanner. We can measure the following properties of components, equipment or other objects:

• linear dimensions,
• roundness,
• cylindricity,
• straightness of surfaces,
• flatness,
• other shape and positional errors,
• profile,
• surface roughness.

The measurement uncertainty that characterises the precision of measurements can, depending on the measured object, be achieved from just a few micrometres.

Traceability

Length and angle measurements are traceable to:

• the length standard of the Estonian National Measurement Standard Laboratory
• the standards of the Finnish national measurement standard laboratory VTT Mikes
• the standards of the Mitutoyo Accredited Calibration Lab
• the standards of the Polish Central Office of Metrology (GUM)
• the standard of the Czech Metrology Institute (CMI)

CALIBRATION OF GAUGE BLOCKS AND LINE MEASURES AT THE NATIONAL MEASUREMENT STANDARD LABORATORY

The laboratory of the national measurement standard of length calibrates:

• gauge blocks of accuracy classes K and 0 in the range of 0,5 mm to 1000 mm
• line measures of up to 120 m in length
