Estonian President visits Olkiluoto nuclear power plant and meets representatives of major Finnish companies

Estonian President Alar Karis made a two-day visit to Finland on 26-27 February, during which he visited the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant and met representatives of several major Finnish companies. The aim of the visit was to strengthen economic and defence cooperation between the two countries.

The Olkiluoto nuclear power plant is Finland’s largest electricity producer, with its three reactors generating a total capacity of 3,380 MW. The plant’s newest third reactor will reach full capacity in September 2022 after a long construction period. The President’s visit took place as the Olkiluoto 3 reactor prepared for a planned two-month outage, an important step to ensure the plant’s reliability.
