Estonian drone manufacturer Meridein begins testing drones at Metrosert

Estonian capital-based drone seller and development center Meridein signed a memorandum of cooperation with Metrosert Applied Research Center to test the drones and drone systems developed by the company in a wide range of conditions. Up to four different projects are expected to pass through Metrosert’s laboratories over the next year.

The cooperation project is an important step in developing Estonia’s defense capabilities, as the drone technologies developed require constant testing in different environmental conditions.

“The upcoming cooperation is critical for us in developing and industrializing technologies. Various tests in cold and heat chambers and EV chambers provide us with valuable information on how the technology works and what changes need to be made to the technologies we have developed in order to make the products as durable as possible,” said Meridein’s development manager Eduard Vainu.

Over the next year, Metrosert’s laboratories will test rally drones, observation drones, and various drone-related subsystems. The most important of these are certainly developments in navigation systems and communications technology capabilities.

“Our extensive service portfolio includes research and development and testing in the fields of communications, navigation, aerodynamics, EMC, RCS, and life cycle environmental testing. Our goal is to support Estonian companies in creating innovative and durable products and managing their life cycle activities,” commented Rainer Kivimäe, Head of Drone Technologies at Metrosert.

“Metrosert’s research and development directions and laboratories enable Meridein Group to develop products that will certainly give them a competitive advantage in Europe and that only a few companies in the region are able to offer,” added Kivimäe.

Meridein Group, a provider, tester, and distributor of drone solutions operating in Estonia, announced in the spring that it had entered into agreements with several partners, including Ukrainian drone manufacturers, to develop and produce the latest drone technologies for the world’s leading drone companies.
