Registration of Sponsor’s Mark

Sponsor’s Marks must be brought in to the State Register of Sponsor’s Marks.
The data concerning the Sponsor’s Marks and the Sponsor’s Marks imprints are preserved in the State Register of Sponsor’s Marks. The State Register of Sponsor’s Marks is established by the Government of the Republic or, on the authorization thereof, the Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications. The authorized processor of the State Register of Sponsor’s Marks is AS Metrosert, Assay Office of Estonia.
The Sponsor’s mark can be a letter, a letter combination or a sign that is easily distinguishable from the Sponsor’s marks of other entrepreneurs and that is registered in the State Register of Sponsor’s Marks.

The data to the Register is represented by:

• the articles of precious metal manufacturers
• the articles of precious metal importers

Primary registration

For the registration in the State Register of Sponsor’s Marks the following documents are necessary:

• an application for the registration of the Sponsor’s Mark (application form of the Sponsor’s Mark registration)
• the magnified image of the Sponsor’s Mark on paper on a scale of 20:1
• the sample imprints of Sponsor’s Mark which are stuck on a metal plate
• the payment order about the state tax payment

Importer’s additional Sponsor’s Mark registration:

The articles of precious metal importers have the rights to registrate the manufacture Sponsor’s Mark (in the case of manufacture permission) as own one. For the importer additional Sponsor’s Mark registration the following documents are necessary:

• an application for the additional Sponsor’s Mark registration (application form of the additional Sponsor’s Mark registration)
• the magnified image of the manufacture Sponsor’s Mark on paper on a scale of 20:1
• the document confirming that the manufacturer agrees with the registration of it’s Sponsor’s Mark in Register
• the sample imprints of manufacture Sponsor’s Mark which are stuck on a metal plate
• the payment order about the state tax payment

Confirmation of validity of registration
At the beginning of each calendar year, but not later than 31 of March, the data of Register is checked and the sample imprints of Sponsor’s Mark are renewed. The confirmation of validity of the Sponsor’s Mark registration is free of charge.

To preserve the registration of Sponsor’s Mark the enterpreneur shall submit:

• an application for the Sponsor’s Mark registration’s conformity or an application of the importer additional Sponsor’s Mark registration
• the sample imprints of Sponsor’s Mark which are stuck on a metal plate (isn’t compulsory for importers)

Documents are presented to Register in writing or with digital signature. A magnified image of the Sponsor’s Mark is presented on paper or digital (.jpg or .bmp format supported) on a scale of 20:1. The design of a Sponsor’s Mark needs an advance confirmation of the Register’s processor, since it must be clearly distinguishable from others Sponsor’s Marks entered in the Register. In case of need the Register’s processor helps with the design of Sponsor’s Mark.

The sample imprints of Sponsor’s Mark are presented to Register on the metal plate (25×50 mm) with engraving of enterprise’s name. The imprints of the Sponsor’s Mark are stamped to the plate in three different strength of blow: strong, medium and weak. In case of need the Register’s processor helps with the plate engraving and stamping.

Refusal of registration, the Register’s data changing, deletion of registration and the Register data archivesing are regulated by Estonian legislation.
